Welcome to the Farmstead

We are Jared and Erica Benoit of Benoit Family Farmstead with our kids Phillip, John, Rachel and Luke.

Our farm started in 2015 when Phillip was almost 2 years old and John was just 2 months old. Grandma Keeling (Erica's Grandma) decided she was ready to move to town and we were anxious to start a homestead. We swapped houses and got started with our bigger garden, a handful of chickens and a couple cows.

Over the past few years everything here has grown quickly! We now have our four kids, and what started as a way to feed our own family we are also putting food on over 300 tables in the area!

Living in town we would dream together of raising our kids on a farm and growing our own food, I couldn’t wait to have a clothes line and a yard full of kids, Jared was excited for a herd of cows and a big garden. I can’t believe that this is really our lives now and even more than we could have ever imagined.

Its hard to put the last almost 8 years down in words…we started from nothing. We knew nothing about farming or business, and of course like every young couple we had very little money to start with. We had no idea what we were doing or what this would eventually become. We just knew that we enjoyed the food we were raising and that we wanted to share with you too.

Erica does all the marketing, writing, deliveries and managing of the farmstead. Jared works a full time job off the farm as well as all the laborous work and planning on the farm. Together we make a great team combining our strengths and skills to build our dream farm.

We have since learned a lot about everything from animal care, pasture management, feed ratios, and genetics to website building, blog writing, marketing, accounting and inventory control. But there is still so much to learn.

I have a passion for many things including food preservation, raw milk, minimalism, cooking from scratch, sewing, farming and raising my kids all that will be talked about through this blog.

I am so excited that you are along for the ride as I teach you new things, we tackle projects together and we turn this 30 acre farm into our dream farm all while sharing it with you and your family.
